Tech Trade School Offers State Mandated CE News

Colorado State Plumbing Board requirement

On April 16, 2019, Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed HB 19-1086 into law, implementing a new standard for the state’s licensed plumbers. Now, every 12 months during the license cycle, plumbers must complete a minimum of eight hours of continuing education to remain in good standing with the State of Colorado. And although the deadline to renew certification for 2022 passed on February 28, with more than 6,000 non-union plumbers working across the state, odds are many pros still need to get their proverbial ducks in order before the 2023 deadline.

Plumb-Tech Trade School

The Colorado Springs-based Plumb-Tech Trade School is an ideal place to start. Run by plumbers for plumbers and registered with the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA), this plumbing CE provider offers online and mobile continuing education classes 24 hours a day, seven days a week to make earning these necessary credits as convenient as possible. Naturally, Plumb-Tech’s courses are designed to meet all newly mandated HB 19-1086 requirements and they are also available to all Colorado plumbers.

Throughout 2021 and into early 2022, Plumb-Tech Trade School also provided limited in-person classes, typically offered in all-day formats. Just like their online counterparts, these courses address updated building codes, two hours of plumbing industry safety training and another six hours exploring techniques related to skills in the following core competencies:

  • Cross connection and backflow prevention
  • Fixtures, faucets, and fixture settings
  • Indirect/special waste
  • Industry product training
  • Non-potable water systems
  • Plumbing administration
  • Residential fire sprinkler systems
  • Sanitary drainage
  • System piping and components
  • Traps, interceptors and separators
  • Vents–DVM
  • Water heaters

For plumbing pros who prefer a less structured approach or simply lack the time to spend a whole day at an in-person lesson, the Plumb-Tech Trade School’s online CE course is ideal. With a training library available 24/7, students can earn their credits at their own pace by watching narrated slideshows online. Once they’ve completed the course, plumbers receive a digital certificate of completion to demonstrate their compliance with the new law.

Serving the entire state of Colorado, more classes are added regularly, so visit their online calendar frequently for updates.
