To celebrate 25 years of building ramps and other home modifications for people with disabilities, the Home Builders Foundation hosted an anniversary party and fundraiser on April 13.

Between the live auction and the silent auction, which was open to bidders in the week before the event, enthusiastic supporters helped HBF net approximately $150,000 to support its mission.

HBF is a Denver-based nonprofit that works with builders and trade partners to complete home modifications for people with disabilities. Following a cocktail reception and dinner, several HBF recipients shared stories of how the foundation helped them.

“I want to thank each attendee, sponsor, donor, recipient, volunteer, and our staff for making our 25th Anniversary Celebration a night to remember,” Beth Forbes, executive director of HBF, told Colorado Builder in an email. “Because of the incredible individuals and companies in our HBF network, we will continue our mission to build independence, provide opportunities and elevate lives in our community.”

Supporters could bid on items in a silent auction for a week before the celebration. During the live auction, supporters could bid on items like a “date nights” package, a South African safari, a foursome at Sanctuary golf course in Sedalia or a weekend in Vegas.

Alpine Lumber presented the event at Infinity Event Center, where hundreds of HBF supporters and recipients gathered to celebrate the projects the foundation has completed since its inception in 1993.

HBF has done modifications for survivors of the Columbine school shooting and the Aurora theatre shooting. HBF and its trade partners have completed nearly 1,500 projects in its 25 years, including 94 in 2017.

HBF also debuted its new logo and look at the event. Click here to see HBF’s redesigned website.
