Amy Van Dyken, a former Olympic swimmer from Colorado, will speak at the Home Builders Foundation‘s Annual Celebration on June 6. The event, which will be hosted at Infinity Park Event Center in Glendale, will raise funds to support the HBF’s mission to help individuals with disabilities live independently in their homes.

The annual celebration represents a break from HBF’s traditional events lineup. Following the success of HBF’s 25th Anniversary Celebration last year, the organization decided to change their calendar to focus on events that more effectively raise critical funds for its programs.

The anniversary gala upon that inspired this year’s event raised about $150,000 for HBF programming.

The new event will include multiple food stations, silent and live auctions, and a keynote address by Van Dyken.

Van Dyken is a six-time Olympic gold champion. Following an ATV accident in 2014, she uses a wheelchair.

“We are thrilled to have Amy Van Dyken join the HBF community as a keynote speaker at our Annual Celebration event,” HBF Executive Director Beth Forbes said in a statement. “As a Colorado native and person living with a spinal cord injury, she has a unique understanding and appreciation of the impact of our work. Many of us have followed Amy from early on in her swimming career, through her spinal cord injury, and she continues to inspire us.”
